You have to beat Magolor. Watch the ending.Watch the credits. Then you will unlock the arena and extra mode even if you got all the spheres or not!

Or you can Play Main Mode a bunch of times and Get better at it, or complete the original arena a bunch of times....No offence but we completed the whole game already,exept the true arena.

No guys, you do NOT need to get all the Energy Spheres. Sorry for half-"erupting", but I'm nowhere near having all of them and I've got the extra mode. You have to get to Magolor, defeat his main form, defeat his soul form, go through all the credits, then when the credits have ended, you should be directed to the menu for that profile you have been playing on all that time. If you wait a second or two, the extra mode should be there, ready to play, and there'll be the "unlocked notice", telling you that you've unlocked extra mode. If that is not happening, your game is likely glitchy. I will warn you, however. Extra mode is hard. Very hard. c;

Defeat lor starcutter as landia then defeat magolor as kirby then defeat magolor soul(the boss title bar wont accually say magolor soul just magolor but he will look different) it will show a video and the credits WATCH THESE then it will go back to the screen that you get when you choose a file and the main mode bar should split in half and the right half will turn red and will have extra on it.

Hi everyone i need to figure out how to get extra mode. do you have to get %100 on main mode to unlock extra? i finished the game with %64 and the arena showed up but extra didn't. i also have 30 energy spheres if this helps. please answer soon as possible.

I figured it out! you need at least 50 spheres (or at least have the game 70% completed) to unlock extra mode. beware! extreme difficulty!
