Stuck in an endless loop

After competing part I, I did some side quests and then couldn't find what I ought to do next, so I went to the theater and purchased the reel to Fort Wasteland. Bad idea. There is no way out other than back through the screen which takes you to the train tunnels and the final diorama, which I've already fixed and the only exit from that is the screen back to Fort Wasteland. Any way out other than restarting the game????
