I'm playing King of Clubs for the Wii, right now, as I type! So far, this evening, I have unlocked a few courses. I had to get a medal on each level that I was trying to beat before a new level opened up. Upon victory of the course, I was awarded: a bronze medal, or a silver medal, and/or you can even receive a gold medal. This all depended on how far under par I was at the completion of the last hole of a level I was trying to beat. If I was over par, NOT ONLY did I NOT get a reward, I did NOT get to move on to a new level, and I painfully found out that I had to do the entire course over again! So, there seems to be no direct purpose to the in-course save. I suggest saving up tons of money and buying up all the helpful items in the pro shop that seem to multiply with each course you beat. I especially, was surprised to see so many new choices of gear in the pro shop, just after beating a couple of dinosaur levels on CAREER mode and a couple of Egyptian levels of CAREER mode too. I hope this helps, good luck!
