Stuck in build/buy mode?

I just started playing sims 3 and every time i go to build/buy mode i can't get out of it. i've tried every button on the remote and nun-chuck and nothing seems to do anything. the only thing i can do is turn off the game and then i lose my progress.

Well you just press 1 and that should work if not just keep pressing b hope that solves your problem:)
