You have to have completed the earth temple. when you return to pumpkin island, the owner will tell you he wants you to help repay your debt by helping his daughter. she is standing by the pumpkin patch. you will go through an annoying dialog and she will place the pumpkins in your arms. you will have to stagger to the shed. if you drop the pumpkins you start over after enduring the very annoying dialog each time--which is why i asked if there is a way to skip dialog and no one has answered!
