Cannot shoot plant in Felix Felicis after destroying roots

I've killed all three roots, but when I go back to shoot the plant, there is no shooting area anywhere on the plant - followed the video instructions to the letter, but every time the plant is invulnarable, not matter how many times I shoot at it.
