Build house from the ground up

OK, So I know how to replace my house... click on the house and hit replace then use the "empty lot" option... that empty lot option is NOT there, the only option it gives me is to replace my house with my current existing house because I copied my existing house... keep in mind that I dont have xbox live, do I need it? Do I need to download an empty lot or something? Please, get back to me on what to do. been stuck for a couple hours now!
