Stuck in Batcave
My son 6 gets stuck in the batcave, at the point where the central control asks him to scan some points on a map which he does. He then runs around the cave but can not get out or onto a vehicle, he is also stuck with Batman and Robin wearing suits and not their outfits, sorry to be vague? This is fairly early on in the game.

I think that it is possible that your game has a glitch. I had no problem at that point. Keep trying. And if nothing happens within the next couple of times, I would go back to the store and get a refund or an exchange.

My son is 5 and I play with him all the time. When you go to central control and you scan around, scan to the dots that are specifying a certain location, such as "chemical crisis" then press "A". It should have a little drop-down from where it says "go to this location" that says "replay story" and "freeplay" . If you choose freeplay then you can actually choose which character, from the ones you may have already unlocked , you would like to play as. Now I think that if you havent completed several of the missions, which are the areas i mentioned earlier (chemical crisis)etc then you cant do freeplay. I could be wrong. This game is more complicated than lego batman 1 for sure. If you're in freeplay mode and you have already unlocked some characters then you can switch characters at any time during that particular freeplay by pressing the right button on the top of the controller . We had this problem too, the response above gave me the clue... When in the scan mode, simply move the joystick around to find the emergency and then scanwhen you find the red exclamation point. Took awhile but we figured it out, no glitch just part of the learning curve.

Look to the lower corner in the game in the dark fog to the bottom, your see a red exclamation mark.. scan it and click it to move on
