Killing Hoyt in knife fight

Is there a trick to killing Hoyt in the knife fight? I have been following the button commands 1) push A 2) push X and then 3) push B. The commands say just to push. Am I supposed to hold the button or am I supposed to push another button when I do this?

No, mate. you just follow the prompts as quick as you can. It's tough going but I managed it after several attempts.
