Getting to radio

I can't seem to get to the radio after leaving the other two behind to go for help. I don't know what to do with the animal traps. Please help for some reason I can't watch the walk through...

The animal traps are to be used to make your escape later once you have done the radio.
Don't waste them before. they work like claymores
