Do you know what the pen is for

On assassin's creed in memory block four, i exited the animus walked up behind the dr. whats his name (the male) and it said press any button to interact, so i did and i pickpoceted his pen. do you know what the pen is for?

The pen is a key code type thingy you use it to open a door or access his pc can't remember which though.
