How to beat first french battle

How do i beat the first battle of the french campaign? joan of arc just goes running off and gets killed and non of my troops win any of the battles.

It took me a while to beat it too but i realized that the enemies take extra damage from flanking so use that to your advantage and if you get some cavalry to charge straight into the enemy they do extra damage.
