Redeeming a code

I bought my grandson crysis 2 limited edition and inside his package there was a code he redeemed put him at level 5 in multiplay. i ae finished the campaign played online and of course i don't have a code to redeem like that but why does he jump ahead like that when i have completed the game and still at level 1 ?
