How do i defeat the baron in the quest with 3 wizards

Iv.e done it before in a previous game but cant remember how to do it help me please

When u first enter the tower on the left side will be a treasure chest with the sword you need to beat him, then once you gety that then you have to get past all the hobbes to the part where you have to defeat him then walk behind him and hit him with the sword you found earlier.
