Stuck in cadaverous crypt
We can't get the door open with the cannon... Help!

This level actually has several cannon puzzles you need to solve in order to progress. Since you weren't more specific, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume it's the one at the very beginning, that if it was another one you would have been more specific.
That cannon is sitting on a disc which can rotate, and in fact is used to blow open THREE walls. Right, up and left. Right and left are Hex's Soul Gem and the Story Scroll, respectively. So fire it to open the right side, then down and to the right of it is a switch which will rotate the disc counter-clockwise, turning the cannon to the left. Fire it again to open your path forward (and to meet the zombies, which cannot be defeated by normal attacks, only by fire attacks, the cannon, or other fire sources such as those candle-holders you can push around), fire it again to clear out the zombies, then rotate it again and fire it one last time to open the left side.
