Reviews The Red Star Reviews for Playstation 2
User ReviewsThe Red Star can't be simply a game for everybody. A few minutes in the game, you will realize its a hybrid of 3d beat-em-ups and shoot-em-ups. The graphics are good, yet nothing out of the ordinary. The controls are very responsive, which is good for evading those sh** load of enemy projectiles. Just like the great 1943-ish style of attacks. It may look like a Russian version of Contra with names heavily composed of letter H's, V's, Y's and T's. In any case, it does deliver a good amount of entertainment for those who want to take a break for much better games. The lack of the Continue option means that you need to start the whole stage again. Health packs are found after most boss battles which means you need to have a lot of HP reserved before facing any boss. (Unless you really have a keen eye and reflexes for evading all those projectiles) After each stage, you will have an evaluation. You will be graded on how much HP you have left after the stage. Pretty dumb, huh? You will not be graded on how much combos you performed, how many enemies you killed or anything of sort. Just your HP. There are sub-levels better known as bonus stages where the players can have the chance to earn extra points to buy gun and character upgrades. Well, just finish the stage will as much HP left as possible. Decent gameplay, even youngsters can grasp the game in a few minutes. Decent graphics. Textures are smooth and detailed but nothing special. Very average sounds. Something you can expect from an arcade type game. Few people may even want to play this game after the first playthrough. Everything is repetitive. Overall, this game is fairly average. You may think about buying this one. Reviewed by: vhayste | Views: 16 The Red Star Playstation 2 Items
