Hell's Highway, a hell to play

Hell's highway is a new game in the Brother's in arms franchise set in WW2. You play as Matt Baker and command a squadron of fierce soldiers.


The game is very challenging at times and tactics need to be considered to find the best flanking route or the way way out of the situation, always bearing in mind the fact you can't leave yourself out in the open for too long. Most of the challenege comes from the squad, yes, the friendly soldiers. The ally AI is dreadful, sometimes unresponsive and most of the time they'll end up getting themselves killed. You're better off if you leave them in the same place to supress the enemy and you yourself do the dirty work on the flanks. Don't worry if you get to a mission with tanks in, they're just no fun and hard to control. Again, if you're not in cover for 90% of the time then you're going to die. This game turned out to be 80% Third person shooter, 5% First Person Shooter and 15% full of cutscences which you can't skip.


Average graphics to be honest. Less powerful systems are full of bugs and glitches which take a few seconds to re-adjust and display the characters properly in cut-scenes. The maps are a nightmare and very unhelpful even though they give away positions of unlockables.


It's really annoying when your character yells the same thing every time at your squad, then your squad yell the same thing back, every single time. Apart from a nice vivid WW2 background, guns blazing just like in Medal of Honour, pretty average aswell.


If you want more after a few missions of literal hell then yeah this has a little replay value. Nothing substancial and when I rented this game I couldn't even be bothered going online because the poor quality of the game out-weighs multiplayer mode.


An average game which will have a sequel, but i'm glad I only rented it.
