How use DP
DP literally stands for Deploy Points. That shows you how many points you need to deploy an Operator, and those will refill over time, or can be refilled by some operators' skills (such as Siege). Each of the operators has a DP requirement, and when you are creating a team you should take into consideration their DP req because if all of them have super high DP req, then it's going to be difficult to deploy them right away, and you will have to pair them up with some lower DP cost operators. DP refills over time, but at start it is difficult to deploy more than 1-2 units, so try to use the operators which you know can hold the enemies until you gain more DP.
What is the Block Count
The Block Count is basically how many enemies an operator can stop at once. While some have a higher block count, others might only have 1 or so - so it's good to deploy the heroes while taking this into consideration, because it can make or break a team. If there are enemies that exceed the block count, then those enemies will simply pass through the operator and ignore them.
Basic setup for any team
There are several roles that any team should have, so if you want to know what those are, then let me explain it simply so that you can know what operators you should keep on hand at all times:
- 1 Vanguard: this is a fairly cheap unit which can hold on enemies for some time and tank until the DPS units take them down. Try having 1 Vanguard because it will help you at the very beginning.
- 1 Sniper: 1 Sniper is enough to deal with the air units, and it can also inflict plenty of DPS. I suggest that you use one in the team and have it prioritize air units.
- 1 Caster: These are good DPS units which use magic attacks - you will need one when dealing with enemies which have pretty high Armor.
- 1 Medic: A Medic will help keep the front liners alive, by using all of the heals in their kit. That is a good unit to place behind the front line, because it will help keep enemies at bay for longer.
- 1 Guard: Depending on the Guard, they are good at defending at some of them are really great at dealing damage too.
Eventually you will be able to have 2 of each class, because that will give you a wider variety of operators to choose from and in case one of them dies and has to revive, you can always use the second one to replace it.
Use units with the right DP
From the very beginning you might be able to get some very high DP units, which might draw you in, but in reality it's a pain to work around them. The higher an operator's rarity (more stars) the more it will cost to deploy - so I really suggest that you think carefully before you send out all of the rarest operators! A good comp should be something like 1-2 good rare operators, 3 or so 4 star or lower, and the rest - up to you. Overall just try to not have too many high cost units because they will really mess with your early game.
Level all the operators you use
One more important thing that I really suggest you do is that you start leveling all the operators on your team. They are starting off as level 1, but once you start upgrading them you will see that they will start getting stronger. While you might have collected all the operators yet available, you should mainly focus on upgrading the ones that you use the most first. Try upgrading them all equally because that way they will not fall behind. The best level to try and upgrade an operator to is level 30 E1. Then you can see if that operator rises up to your expectations and if it doesn't, then you can change it with another.
Best Operators in the game
I want to mention here some more details about some of the best operators in the game, and tell you some of their skills so that you can make an idea on why I've selected the ones that I have. I will not go in any particular order, and I will just list them all below for you to see along with their kit:
She is one of the strongest, if not THE strongest single target caster there is, and along with that she has some pretty powerful AoE attacks as well. Her first skill (Duetto) will boost the Attack Speed, and after the first cast it will also boost the Attack.
With her second skill (Ignition) she will cast an AoE skill which deals pretty good damage, and will reduce the resistance of the enemies - that is super useful when you have an even better dedicated AoE attacker to deploy together.
With her last skill (Volcano) she gets a buff which will boost the damage that she does by quite a lot, as well as range, attack speed and number of targets that she can hit. That is a great skill to melt the bosses or any enemy which is a little tougher than normal mobs.
Hoshiguma is a great Defender because all of her skills are basically boosting her DEF and make her a lot tankier than she already is. Her first skill (Warpath) will boost her DEF by 35% and ATK by 10%, which is useful in any situation - even if not for the ATK alone. Her second skill (Thorns) places some sort of a "shield" which gives her 5% DEF and makes all enemies who attack her take damage. It's basically a reflect skill which returns 50% of their attacks as physical damage. Her third skill (Saw of Strength) is a very powerful AoE attack which will give her increased ATK and DEF, and shred all of the enemies in front.
Another Operator with very good kit, Saria can fill in both the role of the tank and of the healer. She has some pretty powerful spells which can be detrimental in some situations, when you would rather swap a more dedicated healer with a DPS and have her instead on the battlefield.
Saria's first skill (First Aid) will heal an ally with the lowest HP by 110% of her attack, which can be quite powerful. She will trigger this automatically every now and then, so it is a good source of constant heal.
Her second skill (Medicine Dispensing) will also heal allies, but will affect all of them - not just one. It's a good sustain skill which has a relatively short cooldown, so it is a very good choice in many situations.
Her third skill (Calcification) is an AoE slow which makes enemies take more Arts damage. That is a super good and useful skill when going against bigger hordes of enemies and you want to be able to destroy them fairly quick.
SilverAsh is one of the best heroes in game, for several reasons, not just one - he is a good defensive unit, which can also be super powerful in terms of attack and dealing good amounts of damage.
His first skill (Power Strike Y) is a buff which empowers his next attack, to deal even more damage. This helps make him a good burst damage operator, because his entire kit can be basically boosted.
His second skill (Rules of Survival) will boost his defensive stats, granting him extra DEF and HP recovery, but reducing his attack range. It's an OK skill, but I would not boost this one unless SilverAsh is the operator that you are using in your defense.
His third skill (Truesilver Slash) will greatly boost his ATK and ATK range at the cost of lowering his defenses. This also allows him to hit multiple enemies and if you empower this, the true burst damage will shine through from SilverAsh.
The role of the Sniper is one that will take down units from far away and keep the attacks from air units way from the base. Her first skill (Charging Mode) will deal 3 empowered hits to an enemy, which makes her a great DPS especially for boss fights.
Her second skill (Shooting Mode) is a short ranged attack which deals a lot more damage than her ranged ones, but obviously will cost her range. Her third skill (Overloading Mode) is a skill which also bursts her attacks, but reduce her range.
Overall, I would say that she is a great unit for burst AoE damage due to her kit, but in single target situations there are other heroes who shine through better. Exusiai is a good unit when you go against many waves of enemies, or enemies who have fairly low defense.
Siege is one of my favorite operators because her kit will give you some useful tools that can help you siege pretty much - just like her name suggests.
Her first skill (Charge Y) will instantly restore 12 DP (deploy points) and her second skill (Aerial Hammer) will deal a lot of AoE damage to close enemies and restore 3 DP. With her third skill (Skull Crusher) she will increase ATK and has a chance to stun the target.
She is a unit which can hold enemies back, who can deal damage and who will greatly restore DP with her kit. Although her attack and overall stats are not some of the absolute best in game, she will perform good and will be a great asset to any team.
Arknights - Tier List
Now that we've covered the best operators in Arknights, it is time to check on the complete Arknights tier list so that you will know how powerful all of the characters are and which ones you should focus on upgrading first.
***Note: While the heroes are important, if they are one tier above or below another it doesn't mean that they are better or worse in all situations - there are certain times when you will be able to use a B tier unit and will do an amazing job, so it all comes down to basic game knowledge.
Even if you have all of the best game units, if you don't deploy them in the right place and if you are not cautious with their skills, you might still lose - and if a unit is not right for a role, then you should try a different approach!
There is no good or bad operator (well, let's not talk about the 2 star and 1 star units), it is mainly a situation where team compositions, synergy and knowledge all are very important to winning the battles.

Place down the tanks before the mobs
The tank units should be the ones which are facing the mobs firsthand, because they will prevent them from advancing any further. That's something which should go without saying in most of the games out there - tanks are the first line of defense!
Place healers to sustain the tanks
Since the game also has healers, you should make sure that you put them in locations which are far away from enemies, because usually healers don't have a lot of HP / DEF to manage to tank off incoming attacks. You should make sure that their spells affect the tanks, because that will make it a lot easiest to take on any enemies for a long time.
Put the DPS squishy units between the tanks and healers
The squishy DPS units are also some which should go at the back line, but between the healers and the tanks. That is because, that way the healers' spells will affect them too! So this should be a good way to survive longer, even if the tanks end up dying.
Upgrade your units
The operators can be upgraded, but I really suggest that you only upgrade at the beginning the 6 star units and some of the best 5 star ones which you have, because otherwise you will not have enough materials for everyone. It's definitely not worth investing into the 3 star and 4 star units, because they will be overtaken by the stats that the 5 star and 6 star units have, so even if you are tempted to upgrade them, I'd suggest that you wait a little while longer until you get at least a 6 star unit and a few 5 star ones. In order to upgrade a unit, head on to the Operator tab, then tap on the operator that you want to upgrade, and tap on the "+" next to its level. There you can tap on the material you want to use for the upgrade and then you can level them up!
Always plan ahead
Whenever you are starting out a new stage, then you are probably located into a new map which you have not been in before. If that is the case, then you should take a moment and analyze it so that you can plan where you want to place your operators. If planning your strategy is not really your thing, then you might want to reconsider. That is, if you don't want to play and re-play the stages over and over again. The more you advance the more difficult enemies will be and you will have to deal with quite a lot of them! So just use the Map Preview to check out the location and figure out the strategy!
Add more friends and get Support
Another useful thing for the game is you adding more friends in game! That is, because they will let you obtain Friend Credits by using Support Units. You can also visit your friends' dorm, so make sure that you do that to collect the credits. Just keep in mind that the maximum Friend Credits are 300, and if you have over that, they will be lost - so make sure that when the in game day ends, you have less than 300 so you will not lose any Friend Credits!
Get more operators
There are quite a few good units in the game, and if you want to form a good team, then you will want to try and get a few operators ever since the beginning of the game! So if that is what you want to learn, then let's start with the very beginning:
Use the 5 Star Operator Exchange Voucher:
From this you are going to be able to choose between 4 characters: Silence, Liskarm, Projekt Red and Pramanix. If you are not sure what to choose, then let me tell you what they each give!
Silence is a good healer.
Liskarm is a decent DPS Defender.
Projekt Red is good for inflicting crowd control (CC) and can do some DPS.
Pramanix is good for debuffing.
I suggest that you wait a while before you choose, and see what other characters you get. You might get some decent DPS and healers and whatnot, so you might not need the ones listed here. However, I think that Pramanix is the best.
Use New Player Banners:
With these banners you will get guaranteed 5 star and a 6 star operator. It is a good way to get new units early on!
Save up 6000 Orundum to recruit more heroes:
You should save up Orundums and try to recruit more heroes when you are finished with the New Player Banners because this one will give you guaranteed a 6 star hero after pulling 50 times with no 6 star acquired.
That is going to take a while though, so just focus on saving up the currency and eventually you will get everything!
Complete the missions to receive various rewards
There are quite a lot of rewards that you can receive, but I really suggest that you give them a quick read and try to see which ones you can complete because they are going to help with plenty of rewards. Another thing worth mentioning is that the missions are not that difficult. They are mainly asking you for various hero upgrades and stages completed, so just try to quickly read them and if you can, do them too!
Log in every day to claim free rewards
Every single day that you will log in to the game you will be able to receive a lot of useful rewards which will help you in the long run. You can claim a ton of useful items by simply logging in to the game every single day, without even having to do anything! As soon as you log in game every new day you will be able to claim sign in rewards, as well as useful currency and even a 5 star hero, Cliffheart. Even if you don't plan on playing every single day, you should still try to log in and just claim the rewards because they are cumulative, so if you skip one day, you will have to start all over again (for some of the rewards).
Playthrough Strategy Tips
If you have failed to pass a stage, there might be a few reasons why, even if your team is full of 5 star and 6 star operators:
- You operators are low level and need to be improved.
- You need to choose different placements for the operators.
- You might want to try other operators.
- You are not using the RIGHT operators!
Since every team should have a composition which is able to take on anything, try going for a team consisting of 2 Snipers, 2 Vanguards, 2 Casters, 2 Healers, 2 Guards, 2 Defenders or 1 Defender and 1 more damage dealer. This is a setup which will be able to take on anything pretty much, so try to obtain as many operators as you can!
