Collectibles are the best
If you've been playing the game for a little bit, you should know it's almost impossible to get your family members to make lots of money. I'm pretty sure you can only get them higher than apprentice level with upgrades in their detail menu. (maybe I'm wrong though, my people don't have many workroom upgrades) Yet, I've already finished the parent's bedroom, and the first and second bathrooms, and only need a couple of rugs for one of the kid's bedrooms.
How did I get to this point on only the third generation? By selling collectibles. Lots of them. Just like the other 2 games, if you already have a collectible, you can sell it online for a little bit of money. They don't sell for much on the other 2 games though, commons sell for 5 coins, uncommon for 15, and rare for 50. But on this game, all of them will sell for 100 COINS! So basically, if you just spend your time in the game selling collectibles and repeatedly making the parent's work, you should have enough money for that couch or new bedroom you wanted in no time at all. (BONUS: If you drop a kid onto the kitchen sink, they'll work in the kitchen! They'll only earn about 5 coins each time though. You can also drag a person around to sell or collect a collectible they're holding much quicker)
Glitches
This really weird thing that happens to me
So, sometimes my little people will go outside from the hallway in between the bathroom you already have at the beginning of the game and a small green bathroom I added. I don't know if anyone else gets this, but if you do, I'm assuming if you get a great room/ large split room/ amethyst bathroom/ spa room there they'll just go in there.
