Use your skills actively

Your ninja will fight his way through the hordes of enemies sufficiently enough on his own, but it is a lot quicker if you are proactive about skill use. Ninja only uses his skills automatically in short bursts, so he will not use skills right away when they are off cooldown. If you are playing actively, you can deal way more damage because you can manually activate your skills yourself. Make sure to tap on the floating skills as well!

Complete the Critical Mission of the day

Critical Missions are one-time events that occur periodically throughout the day. The first Critical Missions of the day will ALWAYS reward you with a skill gem, so it is imperative to do at least one Critical Mission a day. Skill gems are the items you need to unlock one of the 18 ninja skills available to you, and powering up your ninja first requires you to unlock all 18. This is where the game really opens up, so try to get all skills as fast as you can! After completing the first one, Critical Missions will continue to appear for you. It is still worth it to do them, as they reward you with plasma and data.

Buy the Junk Rocket right away

In the shop, go to the SAI tab. Here, you will find upgrades for your robot helper SAI. The first upgrade, the Junk Rocket, is completely free! The Junk Rocket allows SAI to collect an activated core or data for you once every 10 minutes when you are away from the game. You would normally miss out on these items when the game is in idle mode, but SAI will ensure that you get a little bit of the spoils. Later, once you save up 2,000 credits, you can purchase the Superior Rocket which allows SAI to activate every 45 seconds and holds up to way more stuff. This should be one of the first things you buy with credits!

Keep the Research Lab busy

The Research Lab lets you research projects that add permanent bonuses to your ninja, like health, damage, and material gain bonuses. You will need data (the little floppy disk icon) to start projects, and you can use more data or plasma to speed them up. Research projects usually clock in somewhere around the 12 hour mark to complete, so if you want to upgrade your ninja in a timely manner you will probably want to speed up the process with data and plasma. Do note that overclocking does not finish the project right away but instead takes a chunk of time off. Accelerate does speed up a bit more than overclocking does!

Lots of good stuff in the shop

The shop contains a lot of great stuff that is crucial to your progression through the galaxy. Here are the important ones to know!

  • You can buy chests containing random skill gems for 100 credits, or 10 chests for 1,000 credits. If you do not have all the skill gems yet, this is a good way to get more.
  • Orbs are powerful artifacts that grant you permanent buffs, like more offline XP gain, longer item durations, more plasma, and so forth. They are pricey but they are worth it!
  • Skins offer you a way to customize your ninja. While the skins themselves are completely cosmetic, each skin comes paired with a special orb!
  • The Shadow is a special buff that activates once you have slain 1,000 enemies. Your shadow will manifest into its physical form and assist you in battle for 2 minutes, dealing damage equal to your basic attack damage.

Once you have all of the skill gems, it is time to save your credits for all of the above options!

Use the Analyzer to change your loadout

The Analyzer gives you a detailed readout on how your last run went before you recalled. This information is helpful for the players who want to number crunch and experiment for the most optimum builds. If you feel like you are not getting through the current planet at a good pace or if you are going down too quickly, it may help to rethink your loadout and change your skills around. Experimentation is key in this game!

Use the Supercharger to boost your overall strength

After you progressed a bit, you will unlock the Supercharger. You can spend cores to powerup your ninja's sword, which increases your overall power. How this works is that supercharging increases the value of depleted cores, and as a sweet bonus you get a discount in the Research Lab! Remember though: once you supercharge, you enter the "recalibration" state for a few hours. During this state depleted cores are worth less, but you can alleviate this by collecting the speed up tokens - they look like green recycling arrows.
