Here's how to gain access to Sonic Origins' level select cheats and other in-game secrets in Sonic, Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 + Knuckles, plus how to find the Hidden Palace Zone in Sonic 2.
Sonic the Hedgehog 1: Level Select
Sonic 1 Level Select Cheat: On the title screen, when the words 'Press Button' appear, press: Up, Down, Left. You'll hear a ring chime if done properly. Push the X button (on an Xbox controller), Square button (on a PlayStation controller), or Y button (on a Switch controller).
Pick this to access the level select, along with different cheats that let you play as Sonic and Tails together, trigger the Spindash move, switch off damage from spikes, trigger shield items from other Sonic games, and refuse the variety of (6 or 7) Chaos Emeralds the game needs you to gather.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Level Select
On the title screen, when the words Press Button' appear, press: Up(3x), Down(3x), Left, Right, Left. You'll hear a ring chime. Push the X button (on an Xbox controller), Square button (on a PlayStation controller), or Y button (on a Switch controller).
Pick this to access the level select, consisting of the new completed Hidden Palace Zone. While you can not play it immediately, you can unlock it by beginning to play Mystic Cave Zone-- Act 2, keep going right-down throughout the level up until you stumble upon a pit with a vine over it that you can fall into. This is the secret exit to Hidden Palace Zone.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3: Level Select
On the title screen, when the words 'Press Button' appear, press: Up(2x), Down(2x), Up(4x). You'll hear a ring chime if done properly. Now push any button and move the cursor to find a concealed 'Sound Test' option. Select this to access the level select, consisting of the new Blue Spheres phases and Competition phases.
