- Tip 1: In Normal mode, you will only lose a portion of your Rings when you take a hit.
- Tip 2: When fighting Zavok, his descending attacks will cause you to jump, so be ready to use the Homing Attack. Hitting the Jump button in anticipation of his attack will just tire you out, and leave you in a less than optimal position to follow through.
- Tip 3: If you're uncertain how to dress your Avatar, try selecting Random. Eventually you'll find a look that you like.
You need to earn 3 golden medals for each Avatar species you have. You get to create new Avatar characters as soon as you complete the story mode. Simply create 6 more avatars with species you didn't have and try to complete all other tasks like Silver Moons and Numbered Rings. When I've completed all the challenges, only 5 of my characters were with highest honors. I've also had to collect rings for those other achievements so I've had to grind. Here I recommend you to start grinding the Stage 4 since you may hoard a lot of rings in there while getting a lot of points. There are other levels where you can get more points but this way you'll save a lot of time. Also, remember about the daily missions. Completing them 4 times in a row would result in a 3x point multiplier. Regular example: beating Stage 4 with 999 rings under 2:27 minutes and earning 890'000 raw points. After the time and ring bonuses they turn into 1,8 million points that are multiplied to 5,4 millions. FYI: it's about 2-3 bronze medals per level, meaning you may completely earn a maximum honor level for 2 characters in a half-an-hour!
Casually, you may collect some rings on your way through completing all other achievements. But if you're like me, you may end up with all other challenges done except for the Ring Collecting and Medals of Honor. So here comes the grinding.
I recommend you grind the Stage 4 with your avatar stage as it has way more than 999 rings, lacks any cutscenes, and it's also both easy and fast to complete. If you need to get species-related medals do it with the animal you need. As a weapon of recommendation: Void. It sucks all enemies in big radius also collecting rings sucked into the black hole. You may complete the level under 3 minutes if you'd shoot black holes over the big stashes of rings flying in the second section of the level (after the first checkpoint).
When you're done with medals I recommend switching to Wolf with either Hover or Burst. Wolves have natural ability to pull nearby rings that will allow you to run through places where you'd usually stop to shoot your Void gun. Both Hover and Burst save you a lot of time and give you a lot of rings on some certain point of the level (you'll get what I mean after a couple of runs) while collecting rings with ring magnet.
So if you're a wolf all you need to do is simply use all three speed ramps in the first section of the game and you'll gather up to 450 rings in the first 30 seconds. Overall, you'll get a maximum of 999 rings per 90-100 seconds. I've had to do this quite a lot and yet it proved to be the fastest and easiest way to farm rings.
Somehow this isn't described in the game, so here is the deal: You unlock a new EX stage every time you complete the Red Rings mission in your Missions screen. The last one is EX Stage 7 unlocks as you gather the last 130th red ring. Basically, those are harder versions of challenges introduced in Secret Stages, using the same mechanics.
One of the best strategies to make those weapons you can fire in front of you actually hit something is to launch them when you both have an enemy in front as well as you're on a lane that has coins in front. Most players will move to the lane to collect the coins for the speed boost and they might get in just in time to get hit by your missile. Perfect blindside.
