I tryed to build a runway but every time I do it says that I can't put aircraft on or in front of runway but I don't even have an aircraft on the ship.

What you need to do is first decide the size of your ship. Then you make a solid, heavy foundation. After that, put two large carrier decks as far back as you can. Then put 1 or 2 runways in the front of the carrier. fill the space in between (if any) with carrier deck. Put landing signs on the back. How do you have planes yet? I built a carrier and got the 1 free plane from it, but that is it. I am going to wait until the next update to buy planes because I have a hunch about a price reduction.

Make sure that there is nothing in the front or back of the runway the blocks takeoffs and landings.

I farmed a pile of resources while waiting for the update, so I had plenty for planes and runways... at least a couple of them. XD The pile was worth 20$ real money, but I got it all in game. Oh well, goodbye to that. I spent it all on planes and stuff, I threw down a runway, and a couple of planes, and poof, I turned any of my ships into a carrier. Just don't have anything directly in front of or behind the runway, and put all the planes at the same level, and you don't need any carrier deck or landing signs.

You might have something that is taller then one block high that is blocking the way of the take off or landing zone.

Do notice that planes does not require carrier decks to sit on nor landing sign to land, all it need is a clear shot at the runway and up it goes, so it is better to optimize your defenses by simply let your plane sit on normal armor blocks, the planes will launch and land normally

Don't put ANYTHING in front of the runway. (Guns, blocks, etc), or it won't let you put it down.
