Question & Answers

Beat Yamato with aircraft

Has anybody here beat the Yamato using solely aircraft, and how many of what did it take? Some background--My ship is 80m x 380m, with 8 x 46cm guns, 4 x 40cm guns, and 4 x Mk45-5 guns, all obtained without real money. I don't have a problem crushing the Yamato or anything else on the drills. But I just started playing again after a long absence, and I want to use aircraft enough to even spend money on them. I currently house 22 aircraft in the above ship with room for another 30 or so. They launch on 4 covered runways. I have 4 fighters, 8 torpedo planes, and 10 bombers. I've tried launching fewer of them, I've tried letting them out piecemeal, I've tried letting them out all at once, and I've tried changing the order of launch. But the best my planes can do is about 20% damage to the Yamato, which usually means 2 or 3 bomb hits and 1 or 2 torpedo hits. The rest of the planes either miss or die, and the survivors can't reload because I can't seem to prevent my runways from catching fire (you'd think 10m of 400m armor would do the trick). Overall, I've found the planes to be pretty ineffective. So for the VIP gurus out there, how many planes does it take to beat the Yamato without having to rely on your guns? I'd rather not spend more money if I can help it. But at the current rate, even adding another 30 bombers is only gonna do another 20% damage, and then only if I'm lucky.

Well, consider this. The Essex class of carriers held a bit over 90 aircraft if I recall correctly, and in Operation Ten-go (where Yamato sank IRL) almost 400 planes were used (not all against Yamato though), I'd say you would want at least 45 overall dive bombers and torpedo bombers to be able to win reliably. Regarding fires, simply, if the splash damage of the weapon can reach it, it starts to burn. The 18" guns have 20m of splash if I recall. Assuming that's a radius rather than a diameter, which it most likely is, then it will not really care about that 10m of 400mm armor. However, that 10m of armor will stop 14" guns, MK45 5" guns, and any guns weaker than the 12" guns I think (maybe not the 8" guns). Maybe also the 15" guns, I'm not sure and I'm probably wrong. TL;DR: About 50 anti-ship planes and 20m of armor to stop 18" shells. Also, congrats on getting all that without hacking or spending, my flagship is only worth about 1500000, I assume yours is almost double that number.

In real life aircrafts weapons were useless against yamato so they crashed into the ship even though they wernt kani planes, you need a 3 in1 like me i use tons of 40cn guns and launch planes, i beat the yamato beacause all my shot down planes crash into the ship it kills the yamato armor then i use mk guns, jap ships are unsatable and will sink with being hit by mk5 shells on 1 side

I suggest not to use aircraft carriers and low armored warships. submarines, fortresses with super armor, and high armores warships would be the best choices.

Submarines are really good against the Yamato. I use my sub. to farm resource off Yamato all the time. If you want to build an easy sub, just go on YouTube, and search up: ShinWeiChiou. He definitely teaches you. Good luck on your aircraft vs. Yamato solution!

No, it wont take 100 planes. with bombers, it will take maximum 50 planes. Only problem about the sub is it takes forever to sink yamato (traveling time). I farm on aircraft aircraft carrier lvl 2 with my platform ship (927 armor points) that costs more then 5 million resources to make. I first sank the ship in front of you then, then I sank shinano, and then, my planes sank the other ship.

Youd do better using planes on aircrft carrier lvl 2 i have tem planes 4 foghters and 6 torp bombers amd i launc them at the far right ship while shooting enemy fighters with my 4 mk45 uns and te kill the other ship while my planes bombard the pther one thwn bombard the shinano with my 3 46cm guns as it is unstable and one volley on its left side will capsize it and if te far rigt one is still floating usually one volley will sink itthe rest of the way

Did you forget the landing sign? if so, get 1 or 2 it behind the runway(depending on the it's facing), and then aircraft can land, if not, I don't know.
