Roster updates 4 13
What happens 2 yo team when roster updates? Do u lose players who r no longer w/yo team n real life n da game?
Answer from: mrblasto
You don't lose players who are traded to a different team, but I think you could lose players who retire from the MLB. For example, I lost a Chipper Jones card after a roster update. He had retired since the previous update and my guess is that retired players are removed from the game altogether. In my case the card was replaced by another 3rd baseman whose name was close, and of course, was nowhere near as good as Chipper.
Note that a roster update can play havoc with your team if you rely on set deck effects (players and cheerleaders from same team). If a player is traded to another team, the team boost from the set deck effect no longer applies and you must systematically swap out players until you find and remove the traded player (or follow the MLB trades) to reinstate it. I went through this for one of my teams during last October's roster update, losing some of my best batters (though fortunately not the best pitchers).
