Question & Answers

How do you use your tail gunner?

I dont know how to use my tail gunner on bombers, and its really frustrating, anyone know?

Answer from: Jeribill
The tail gunner fires automatically when the enemy is in range you don't have to do anything. If a fighter is after you don't count on the tail gunner to save you. Evasive action is necessary and yo will probably get shot down in quick order. Sorry!

You can actually see the gunner on board the Lancaster and Heinkel bombers, when flying them in reverse view. With the planes flying "toward" you, speed up until you actually enter the fuselage and cockpit. Much of the interior will disappear from view until you pull back by dropping speed. But crewmen inside will be seen.

Just to demonstrate how the gunner fires, set Dogfight to one of the multi-engine bombers, Fly-and-Die at Easy level, with only 2-3 opponents. Then you can try the reverse view above and see the gunner in action. He can shoot down fighters in his zone-of-fire but as Jeribill said, don't rely on him in actual combat.

Amount of detail on the planes seems fairly good -- even on the few crewmen inside the bombers.
