A lo of the time if you send scavengers to a specific location they will forget how to find their way back. I think there are other factors to it but I'm not sure what. that is the primary way to make them go missing. If you establish outposts in somewhat near areas to your home or leading up to your home then there will be a greater chance of them getting home by themselves

No matter what you do you will always have survivors go missing and there is nothing you can do about it but not telling them to go out is a good place to reduce how many times they go missing. and it doesent matter what skills they have they are equaly as likely to go missing. for example i have a survivor who is max everything but he has still gone missing multipul times. and you cant tell them to stay on your BASE ( you spelt it BASS as in the fish)

Infestations and hoards increase the chance

@Lolol: bass could also be the music term anyways i had marcus maxed out except for shooting and when i played as someone else he went missing too i think its because they decide to go out and do somthing they want to do and venture to far to know how to get back its frustrating i know but as long as you keep finding them the better chance is for them not to die

@Slayer: Yo with what you said i have a easy fix, move your base to a werehouse and make shore you have enough building material's so you can make it defenceable.

I had that problem when I was living at the church but when I moved to the trucking warehouse in marshal and I built about 2 more bed rooms and upgraded them to bunk beds and had about 24 people they barley went missing at all

Outposts! build them all over the town (main roads to your home base) the more outposts you have in the area the higher chance that your characters will make it home save by them self's, and if they go missing, they still have a high chance of getting home even if you don't help them, you will loose moral but it just means you can focus on the missing that are further out then your outposts.
Do the Zed hunts as these hunts reduce the amount of over all special infected out there, if there is a zed hunt for ferals then go for that one as ferals hunt your survivors as they do routine missions. other Zed hunts are not so bad as the bloater and the juggernaut are both slow and your survivor can out run them, the swat zombies can be killed by your survivors just takes them a little longer then normal... make sure all your survivors are equipped with good weapons and health packs this will increase there chance of survival without the need for your help.
If it's one of your own survivors that is asking for help with a mission then go help them, if it is a nabor, you can avoid it (the nabor may die tho) (make sure you know who your nabors are and there skills if it's a nabor that you need in your group, go help them with the mission, if there pretty useless then let them do it on there own...
